Soft-Kut & Lino Blocks

Soft-Kut can be cut into like butter without requiring much pressure and is sometimes called "Butter-Cut". It is flexible enough to make into rollers. It is recommended for single side cutting or rubber stamping, when cut into smaller pieces. It is also recommended that these blocks be used with water-based printing inks only as solvents could deteriorate the blocks. Blocks are approximately 1/4" thick. Softoleum is a soft grey rubber-like material that has been designed to make cutting easier and safer for block printers of all ages. Little pressure is needed to carve into this material. The 3/8" thick sheets make it possible for both sides to be cut providing two printing surfaces per block. Softoleum blocks are excellent for beginners. Linoleum is the most popular material used by artists for block printing. It is designed to allow the artist to reproduce sharp, clear prints without gaps. This high quality material will not warp, crack, dry out or peel. Lino is available mounted or unmounted in a variety of sizes. Water-based or oil block printing inks can be used on it.
