Liquitex Acrylic Varnishes
Liquitex Matte Permanent Varnish: is a 100% acrylic
polymer varnish with a very fluid, low viscosity. It produces a non-glare, low
sheen surface that intensifies color. It does not drastically reduce color depth
as a Matte Medium does. It is water soluble when wet and dries to a non-tacky,
hard, flexible surface that is resistant to dirt, chemicals and water. It resists
discoloration (non-yellowing, non-fogging) due to humidity, heat and ultraviolet
light. Depending upon substrate, it allows moisture to pass through (breathable).
It will not crack when surface expands and contracts during temperature and humidity
changes. It can be applied to any surface (flexible and inflexible) that is suitable
for acrylic paint and mediums, such as canvas, paper, wood and Plexiglas but cannot
be used over oil paint.
Liquitex Satin Permanent Varnish: is a low viscosity,
100% acrylic polymer varnish. It produces a non-glare, low sheen surface that
will intensify colors. It does not drastically reduce color depth, like a Matte
Medium. It is water soluble when wet and dries to a non-tacky, hard, flexible
surface that is resistant to dirt, chemicals, water and discoloration (non-yellowing,
non-fogging) due to humidity, heat and ultraviolet light. Depending upon substrate,
it allows moisture to pass through (breathable). Applicable only to rigid surfaces
such as wood, Masonite, decorative ceramic plates and other rigid surfaces suitable
for acrylic paint and mediums. Do not use on flexible surfaces such as canvas
or over oil paint.
Liquitex Soluvar Final Picture Varnish: is a low
viscosity final varnish that can be applied over dry acrylic or oil paint. It
is self-leveling and will not hold brush strokes. It is soluble with turpentine
or mineral spirits (do not use odorless mineral spirits) and dries to a clear,
non-tacky, hard film. It is resistant to water, dirt and discoloration (non-yellowing,
non-fogging) due to humidity, heat and ultraviolet light. It is flexible and will
not crack when surface expands and contracts during temperature and humidity changes.
Soluvar is a permanent and removable final varnish that protects paintings and
allows the removal of surface dirt, without damaging the painting underneath.
Once the surface is clean, a new coat of Soluvar may be applied. Gloss Soluvar
increases the depth and intensity of colors, while Matte Soluvar lowers intensity
and depth of colors and reduces surface glare. Matte and Gloss Soluvar may be
intermixed to achieve a variety of finishes.
